With the Test and ODI series wins under their belt, Team India is gearing up to lock horns with West Indies in an action-packed five-match T20I series, beginning on Thursday, August 3. 

This upcoming first match of the series holds great significance as it marks India's 200th T20I appearance. Hardik Pandya has been entrusted with the captaincy, and Suryakumar Yadav will serve as his deputy for this series. 

On that note, let's take a look at the list of teams with the highest number of T20I matches played: 


1) Pakistan - 223 T20I Matches

Pakistan stands at the pinnacle with 200 T20I matches, having played their historic 200th match versus England in September last year. This extraordinary accomplishment makes them the first team to achieve this feat in world cricket, and their T20I tally currently stands at 223 matches.   


2) India - 200 T20I Matches

After Pakistan, India, their arch-rivals, are set to follow suit and become the second team to reach this milestone. They will achieve the landmark when they step onto the field against West Indies in the first T20I of the five-match series on Thursday, August 3, at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad.  


3) New Zealand- 193 T20I Matches

Securing the third spot on this list, New Zealand has played a total of 193 T20I matches, just seven matches shy of the remarkable 200-match milestone. 


4) Sri Lanka and West Indies - 179 T20I Matches

In the fourth position, Sri Lanka and West Indies are neck and neck with 179 T20 matches played. With their first T20I of the five-match series against India on Thursday, August 1, West Indies will surpass Sri Lanka in this tally. 


5) Australia- 174 T20I Matches

With 174 T20 matches under their belt, Australia currently ranks fifth on the list, yet they have a substantial gap to bridge to reach the 200 T20 matches milestone.
