Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Mumbai Indians are two of the most popular teams in the IPL and whenever they go head-to-head, there is lot of excitement. Over thee years, there have been 33 matches between the two sides and Mumbai Indians have an edge with 19 wins. However, the matches have been pretty close and intense and the fans from both sides have always cherished the rivalry.

In IPL 2025, Mumbai Indians will go up against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 7 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. There is expected to be a full house for the game, but unfortunately for the fans, it will be the only time they will see RCB and MI battle against each other in the group stages of the upcoming edition.

MI And RCB In Different Groups Of IPL 2025

The reason for it is that the two teams are in the separate groups this season. Royal Challengers Bengaluru are in Group 1 alongside Chennai Super Kings, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders while Mumbai Indians are in the Group 2 alongside other four teams.

According to the schedule and IPL rules, the teams that are in the same group will play each other twice along with the one team in another group (depends on the seeding). So, as RCB and MI are in different groups, they would face each other only once as MI will take on CSK twice due to the higher seeding despite being in different groups.
