Why Was Pakistan Team Not Served Biryani & Kebab At Hotel In Kolkata?

Even as their World Cup 2023 performance remains inconsistent, the Pakistan team isn’t letting it dampen their spirits when it comes to experiencing the sumptuous delicacies of India.

World Cup hurdles don't hold back Pakistan's love for Indian cuisine

After their arrival in the City of Joy on Saturday for the game versus Bangladesh, the players relished the authentic flavours of Kolkata as they displayed a palate keen for local dishes.

Eschewing the fare at their hotel, Babar Azam's brigade decided to feast on the celebrated dishes of Kolkata. Using an online food delivery app, they ordered local favourites like Kolkata biryani, Chaap, Kebabs, Shahi Tukra, and the delectable Firni from a renowned eatery in the Park Circus Area.

Given the travel restrictions imposed on them, this move ensured they didn't miss out on a savoury tryst with the city's mouthwatering dishes.

It is worth mentioning that the Pakistan team’s food adventures across India are noteworthy. From relishing dishes at Hyderabad's iconic eateries to dining experiences in Bengaluru, the Men in Green have ensured they enjoy the hospitality the nation offers.

However, this has also drawn criticism from cricketing legends, notably former pacer Wasim Akram, who expressed his concern over the team's fitness following their surprising loss to Afghanistan earlier this month.

Meanwhile, with tight security measures in place at their Kolkata hotel, where an entire floor is reserved for the team, they have tried to maintain a balance between relaxation and gearing up for upcoming matches.

Returning to training at the Eden Gardens after a brief hiatus, Babar and his contingent prepped for their game against Bangladesh after a couple of days' break.

While their World Cup journey has been fraught with hurdles, their chances of reaching the knockouts remain a possibility, albeit reliant on other game outcomes and their performance in the remaining matches, starting with the ongoing clash against Bangladesh on Tuesday.
