The IPL 2025 is off to an exciting start with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) demolishing Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. KKR batted first after Rajat Patidar won the toss and decided to field and despite a quickfire fifty from Rahane, the defending champions lost their way in the second half of their innings.

RCB Dominates KKR In IPL 2025 Opener

It was Krunal Pandya who displayed his class with the ball and picked three wickets to keep KKR in a check. In the run chase, Virat Kohli stood tall as always, and played an unbeaten knock of 59 from just 36 balls. He was the highest run-scorer of the game as Phil Salt and Ajinkya Rahane both scored 56 runs.

In IPL, the leading run-scorer gets an Orange Cap. However, it is only given to a player after the second match of the season is completed. Thus, as it was just the first game of IPL 2025 and Virat Kohli would have to wait for a while to get his hands on the Orange Cap.

Virat Kohli though broke another record in his breezy knock of 59. He became just the third batter to score 1000 or more runs against KKR after David Warner and Rohit Sharma. Overall, it was a comprehensive victory for RCB, and their fans would be pretty happy with their team's dominace over defending champions, KKR.
