On Friday, Sunrisers Hyderabad steamrolled Rajasthan Royals in qualifier 2 of the IPL 2024 to enter the all-important final. Batting first, the Orange Army posted a respectable 175-run total on the board before the Royals could manage only 139 runs, losing the game by 36-runs. 

After the game concluded, RR team director Kumar Sangakkara held the batters responsible for the heartbreaking defeat. 

As quoted by The Daily Star, the legendary Sri Lankan cricketer reckoned that the RR batters failed to build crucial partnerships, resulting in their defeat. 

"Wicket turned a little bit probably, but I think a little bit of panic and not building enough partnerships past that first wicket," Sangakkara said.

He also stated that Jos Buttler's unavailability proved fatal for the Royals as the explosive English batter could've been their game-changer in the qualifier 2. 

"We always say that the best ability is availability and unfortunately we lost Jos. He is a big loss without a doubt. When you're in a playoff like this and you've got that start without Jos, we expect the other batters to also step up," he concluded. 

After securing a comprehensive win against RR in qualifier 2, SRH will take on KKR in the IPL 2024 final on Sunday evening at M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
