With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 set to get over on May 26, the buzz has already started for the T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in USA/West Indies.
India is set to play their first game of the T20 World Cup against Ireland on June 5, but the Rohit Sharma led Indian team will depart for the USA on May 25, at 10 PM, as stated by Sports Tak.
First batch set to depart today
Interestingly, the team will depart in batches, with the first lot leaving today. The likes of Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli will leave on May 25, and they'll be joined by pace spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah and wicket-keeper, Rishabh Pant, as India aim to win their second T20 World title.
Hardik Pandya, who is rumoured to have a troubled life as of late, is currently in London, and will join the squad soon. The Indian players, taking a part in Qualifier 2, and the finals, will depart in the second batch.
Team India will play their only warm-up match against Bangladesh on June 1, at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York.
The Indian side announced their World Cup, earlier this month. The core of the team remained the same, with just the surprise exclusion of Rinku Singh, who will travel with the squad as a reserve player.
The marquee match of the tournament - India vs Pakistan will take place on June 9.
