India will face Pakistan in their opening Asia Cup encounter [X.com]
Regarded as the mother of all battles, the India versus Pakistan match has always thrilled fans across the globe. And to the delight of cricket fanatics around the world, the Asian giants will collide in the Asia Cup 2023, set to commence on August 30.
Meanwhile, ahead of a high-voltage clash, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has predicted its outcome, albeit in a diplomatic manner. Speaking to the media in Kolkata, the legendary Indian batter reckoned that both India and Pakistan are incredible teams, and whichever side plays better would end up winning the match.

“It is very difficult for me to choose a favourite. They are both good teams. Pakistan is a good team, and of course, India is a very good team. There are no favourites; whoever plays well will win the game,” said Ganguly.
The ex-cricketer seemed to be pleased with Jasprit Bumrah's comeback before the marquee event. He also justified the omission of Yuzvendra Chahal, explaining how Axar Patel's all-round attributes could help India win the title.
“Bumrah was good in Ireland and it is a very good thing. He started his stint with T20Is and now in ODIs, he will have to bowl 10 overs. So with time, his fitness will get better. You can only have three spinners and I think they have done the right thing by picking Axar (Patel) because he can bat," he concluded.
India and Pakistan will take on each other in the third group-stage fixture of the tournament on September 2 in Pallekele.
