Among the rising young talents in the Indian junior domestic set-up, Musheer Khan is making waves on the Indian U-19's marquee trip to South Africa.

Musheer, the brother of Mumbai's prolific right-hander Sarfaraz Khan, has been in tremendous form with the ball during the ongoing U-19 triangular series, also featuring a team from Afghanistan.

Only 18 years old, the promising left-arm spinner bagged a magnificent fifer for just 38 runs off his 10-over quota and batted superbly at the top of the order during the critical second-round fixture against South Africa on Saturday (January 6).

Helping Indian U-19 restrict the Proteas to a modest 256 before producing a freeflowing knock of 41 at No. 3 in a comprehensive six-wicket win for the hosts, the talented cricketer raised his stocks significantly and nearly secured his spot in the squad for the upcoming youth World Cup, starting January 19.

Musheer Khan, One Of Indian U-19's Best

Musheer could be one of the pathbreaking players among this lot of Indian U-19 players approaching the biannual ICC tournament in foreign conditions. The earnest allround cricketer has been gradually forging an impressive rise towards higher honours.

He is one of the only players in the Indian U-19 touring squad to have played senior first-class cricket. Musheer made his Mumbai debut in the Ranji Trophy back in December 2022 and has since featured in their playing XI for three first-class games.

The childhood prodigy, who has struck 96 runs and taken a pair of scalps in red-ball cricket for the domestic powerhouse, has not yet played the Syed Mushtaq Ali and Vijay Hazare Trophy so far, which is likely to change come the next domestic season given the talent the young man possesses.

Musheer will have the chance to showcase his mettle in abundance when the U-19 World Cup kicks off later this month, with India placed in Group A alongside Bangladesh, Ireland, and the USA and considered one of the firm favourites to win the coveted crown.
