After 18 days and 14 matches, the wait is finally over as the Champions Trophy 2025 has reached its grand finale. India and New Zealand will lock horns against each other for the coveted title on Sunday in Dubai. The final marks a historic showdown as both the teams face off in a white-ball tournament final for the first time in 25 years.  

New Zealand secured their place in the summit clash with a dominant victory over South Africa in the second semi-final in Lahore on Wednesday. The Black Caps, known for their consistency in ICC tournaments, now have the perfect opportunity to settle scores against India. 

India became the first team to qualify for the final after overcoming Australia by four wickets in Dubai on Tuesday. Led by Rohit Sharma, the Men in Blue will be keen to avenge past final heartbreaks against New Zealand and claim another ICC trophy. 

IND VS NZ: The Biggest Rivalry 

India and New Zealand have previously met twice in ICC tournament finals. The most recent encounter came in the World Test Championship final in Southampton in 2021. New Zealand outclassed India by eight wickets in a rain-affected clash spread over six days.  

Interestingly, the last time these two teams met in a white-ball ICC final was in the 2000 ICC Knockout Trophy in Nairobi. On that occasion, New Zealand defeated India by four wickets, clinching their first-ever ICC title.

The much-awaited final between India and New Zealand will be played at Dubai International Stadium on March 9, 2025 (Sunday).
