Former fast bowler Mohammad Amir has criticised the Pakistan Cricket Board's decision to appoint Salman Ali Agha as the T20I captain. Recently, the PCB replaced Mohammad Rizwan with Salman as Pakistan's captain in the shortest format.

However, Mohammad Amir doesn't seem convinced with the decision, as he criticised it in a recent interview.

Mohammad Amir Names Ideal T20I Captain For Pakistan

Pakistan's former pacer Mohammad Amir believes appointing Salman Ali Agha as the skipper might backfire on Pakistan, as the cricketer has little captaincy experience in the domestic as well as PSL circuit.

Amir, who played a significant role in the 2017 Champions Trophy final, opined that the PCB should've preferred Mohammad Haris over Salman for T20I captaincy. He reckons that Haris has had ample leadership experience, having captained the Pakistan Shaheens on multiple occasions.

“Haris is captaining everywhere. He led the Pakistan Shaheens, and he also captained in the Champions Cup. Agha Salman is a very good cricketer, but if you wanted to bring in a new captain, you should have chosen Mohammad Haris because he has been groomed everywhere as a captain," Amir was quoted as saying, by Cricket Pakistan.

Agha Salman To Lead, Haris Back For NZ T20Is

Recently, Pakistan announced their squad for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand. While Salman Ali Agha replaced Mohammad Rizwan as the captain, Mohammad Haris received a much-awaited recall in the shortest format.

So, the New Zealand tour will be crucial for both these players. Salman would be keen to get a positive start to his captaincy stint, while Haris would be desperate to create an impact on his international return.
