The rivalry between India and Australia is one of the most celebrated one in the modern-day cricket. India have challenged Australia at various junctures over the last two decades, and in the recent times, they have also dominated the Aussies in Test cricket with India holding onto Border-Gavaskar Trophy since the 2016-17 series.
The stage is now set for the another BGT and the first game will start on 22nd of November at the Perth Stadium. There is plenty of excitement around the series, and so let's now see what happened when India and Australia last played a Test match against each other.
The two countries last went against each other in BGT 2023 that was held in India. The home team won that series by a 2-1 margin and the final game was a drawn one at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It was a slow wicket and Australia scored 480 while batting first. Usman Khawaja led from the front and scored a patient century with 180 of 422 balls. Cameron Green also hit 114 and for India, it was Ravichandran Ashwin who bagged a six-wicket haul.

In reply, Indian batters also displayed their class and Shubman Gill hit 128 off 235 balls. He hit 12 fours and a six in his knock while Virat Kohli also made most of the good batting conditions with a fine knock of 186. Axar Patel too scored a fifty coming down the order and India took the lead of 91 at the end of the first innings as they were bowled out for 571.
The match though was going at a slow pace and in the second innings too, India could not get wickets quickly and the match ended in a draw. Australia scored 175 for the loss of two wickets in the second innings and the series ended with India winning the trophy again.
