West Indies have announced a strong 15-member squad for their two-match Test series against India. They will be playing Test cricket in India after seven long years, and it is the first away series for the Caribbean boys in the new WTC cycle.

West Indies Trust Youngsters For Tough India Tour

They have made some changes to the team that was whitewashed at home by Australia a couple of months back, but have trusted their core. The likes of Kaecy Carty, Miklyle Louis and Johann Layne have been dropped while Alick Athanzae and Tagenarine Chanderpaul return to the setup. However, the big name missing from the sheet is Kraigg Brathwaite, former West Indies Test captain.

The veteran of 100 Tests was dropped in the last Test of the three-match series against Australia due to poor form and has now been left out altogether despite his experience of playing in India.

Khary Pierre Gets Maiden Test Call-Up

They have also added Khary Pierre, who has got his maiden Test call-up after playing 13 white-ball matches for West Indies. The leadership group, though, remains intact despite the humiliation at home, and Roston Chase would be hoping to impress as captain in his first away tour as captain.

Overall, West Indies have three spin options in their team and vice-captain Jomel Warrican would have to play a big role in the series. They have a quality pace attack comprising of bowlers like Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph and Jayden Seales, while the batting group has a lot of young players.

The first Test will start on October 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, while the second Test will be played in Delhi from October 10.
