Apart from India's brand of cricket, which Rohit Sharma and Co. displayed in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, another thing that has caught people's attention is the 'Fielder of the Match' award.

Initiated by fielding coach T Dilip as a means of keeping the motivation and spirit within the players alive, the player with the best fielding performance is handed a medal post every match, which also became a huge hit in the team.

India might have lost the World Cup Final against Australia last evening at Ahmedabad, but that did not stop the customary ceremony by Dilip.

In a clip shared by BCCI on Instagram, India's fielding coach announced 'Player of the Tournament' Virat Kohli as India's best fielder in the final, receiving the coveted medal from Ravindra Jadeja.

In a rather unglamorous ceremony, Dilip praised Kohli for his passion for the field, which helped others lift up and also gave an inspiring speech to the players, urging them to be proud of their show in the WC.

Here's what Dilip said

"During the course of the tournament I think we took some brilliant catches but what I really liked is the brotherhood we shared on the field. The way each one supported each other the way everyone was backing that's outstanding to see and I see only growing up as a team on the field and today's winner he's been a terrific player.

He sets himself up great standards and every time he goes on the field he does magic and the best part is that he not only does his job so well but his actions inspire so many people and it is none other than Virat Kohli."

Put into bat, India managed just 240 runs with Kohli and KL Rahul scoring respective half-centuries. In reply, Australia chased down their target with relative ease after Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne stitched a 192-run stand, guiding their side to its sixth World Cup title.
