In a heartfelt and emotional moment of camaraderie, Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were seen sharing a hug before taking stance against South Africa in T20 World Cup final in what turned out to be the duo’s final outing in T20 internationals.

Indian veteran stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli played an instrumental role in India’s iconic 2024 T20 World Cup victory. While the captain played a crucial knock against Australia in Super 8, Kohli stepped up in the finals after having a forgettable tournament.

That being said, moments after the World Cup victory, Rohit and Kohli stepped aside from the shorter format and announced retirement together with a view to pass the baton to the next generation.

Meanwhile, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli knew that the finals would be their last T20I in the blue jersey and hence, in an unseen clip, the opening pair was seen sharing a small hug before taking stance against South Africa in the first innings of the World Cup finals.

Having played together for years and sharing the same dream, Rohit and Kohli were emotional throughout the game, and both broke down in each other's arms after the nail-biting victory. 

Both spoke highly of each other, and Kohli revealed discussing with Rohit how they wanted to end things on a high and dropped every ounce of sweat on June 29 at Barbados.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will continue to lead from the front in the ODI and Test format with two major ICC events, the Champions Trophy and World Test Championship on the cards.
