Chennai Super Kings (CSK) players have started to assemble for the upcoming IPL 2025 season as they aim to reclaim their lost IPL crown. CSK have drafted in quality players in the IPL 2025 mega auctions and the squad looks balanced on paper as they embark on the quest to win their 6th IPL title.
All focus will be on their legend, MS Dhoni, who has already started to practice for the upcoming season, which is set to begin on March 22, and the Super Kings will kick-start their campaign against arch-rivals, Mumbai Indians.
Vintage MSD in CSK nets
Rumours are circulating that the 2025 season could potentially be MS Dhoni's last IPL campaign and he could hang up his boots after the tournament ends. Prior to the new season, MSD hit the nets and looked calm and composed as the world witnessed vintage MSD.
For someone who is 43-years-old, the "Thala", as they call him, looked in fine touch and smacked some big sixes in the nets. He had a near perfect bat swing and took on the bowlers with ease and reminded fans of his playing days.
CSK's IPL mega auction journey
CSK's ultimate aim in the mega auction was to build a strong core for the next few seasons, and they achieved the goal.
The likes of Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra were once again brought in by the franchise as they sorted out their opening combination. They also drafted in India great, R Ashwin and Afghanistan star, Noor Ahmad to bolster their spin department. Overall, they build a perfect team to give a fitting tribute to MSD, who could play his last IPL season.
