Virat Kohli still grabs attention whenever he enters the field, despite stepping down as Team India's captain across all formats for some time. Since Star Sports is aware of this, they used the ace batter as the face of the Men in Blue in their promo for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023.

India's performance at the Asia Cup last year in the UAE was disappointing under Rohit Sharma's leadership. They could not advance to the final, where Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan to win the elusive trophy.

Tens of thousands of Indian fans are counting on their heroes to live up to their lofty standards this time, and Kohli, the undisputed king of the 50-over format, is the one who needs to take the initiative.

India, currently in the West Indies for the five-match T20I series, will begin the forthcoming Asia Cup campaign on September 2 by playing against arch-rivals Pakistan at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. The tournament, meanwhile, will begin on August 30, with Pakistan taking on Nepal at Multan Cricket Stadium. It will finish on September 17.

The Asia Cup 2023 will be the last important competition for Asian participants before they move on to compete in the World Cup in India. The showpiece event, hailed as the grandest tournament of the game, will commence with last edition’s finalists England facing New Zealand at Narendra Modi Stadium on October 5.
