Indian cricket team's perfect end to the Asia Cup 2023 in Sri Lanka received some wonderful responses from the fans worldwide as it was the dream start of the long upcoming season for the Men in Blue with the Australia series and marquee World Cup 2023 lined up in the coming month.
The Indian side, led by skipper Rohit Sharma, bowled out neighbours Sri Lanka for a paltry 50 courtesy of a spell for the ages from pacer Mohammed Siraj, who grabbed figures of 6/21 in his seven overs, helping his side grab the win by ten wickets.
Rohit, who was speaking in the press conference after the match's conclusion, shared another hilarious moment with the mic. He was midway through his remark when a loud sound of bursting crackers filled the area with noise, and he couldn't continue to speak, causing interruption.
“It gives us a lot of confidence to come here and win a tournament like this, through the tournament, we saw a lot of..."
However, the moment the sound faded away, Sharma, in his witty response, quipped that they should burst the crackers after India lifts the World Cup.
“Arey World Cup jeetne ke baad phodo ye sab... (burst crackers after we win the World Cup)."
This was followed by a massive laugh from the journalists and people present in the room, as this was another light-hearted moment from Sharma's PC.
Nevertheless, talking about the game, India's victory was a massive one, considering they needed a tournament win before going into the World Cup. But before that, they have to face Australia in a three-match series that would begin on the 22nd of September.
