Shubman Gill is one of the most celebrated cricketers in India. Not only is he a brilliant batsman, but his charm off the field has also made him a fan favourite. During the first ODI between India and England in Nagpur, Gill once again stole the show with a stunning 87 off 96 balls, leading India to a four-wicket victory.

Chasing a target of 249, India lost openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal early, but Gill anchored the innings beautifully. He stitched crucial partnerships of 94 runs with Shreyas Iyer (59) and 108 runs with Axar Patel (52), ensuring India reached the target with 11.2 overs to spare.

Gill was in complete control throughout his innings, but his hopes of scoring a century were dashed when he mistimed a shot off Saqib Mahmood’s bowling. England captain Jos Buttler took a diving catch at mid-on, dismissing Gill for 87.

Suresh Raina’s Cheeky Comment Makes Gill Blush

After the match, Gill joined the broadcasters for a post-match discussion. Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina, who was part of the panel, couldn’t resist pulling Gill’s leg.

Raina jokingly said, “Maine kaha Valentine’s Day to 14th ko hai, tune aaj fir dil jeet liya” (Valentine’s Day is on February 14, but you already won hearts today).

Hearing this, Gill couldn’t help but blush on live television and simply replied, “Thank you.”

The moment instantly became a hit among fans, with many sharing clips of Gill’s reaction on social media.

Despite the loss, England have had a few positives. Saqib Mahmood and Adil Rashid picked up two wickets each, trying to put India under pressure. However, Gill’s knock ensured India had a comfortable chase, sealing a 1-0 lead in the series.
