Sanju Samson is an enigma! The man seems to generate varied emotions across cricketing spectrum but one thing that no one can doubt is Sanju Samson's extraordinary talent. Consistency and temperament has been an issue for him, but his effortless hitting has caught the imagination of the cricketing world and it is a treat to watch him bat in full flow.

The Ranji Trophy 2024 is up and running and Kerala are up against Uttar Pradesh in their opening match of the season. The game is played at Alappuzha - known as the Venice of East and it was expected that Sanju Samson will dazzle his fellow Keralite with some sparkling strokeplay.

Uttar Pradesh batted first and scored 302 in the first innings with Rinku Singh scoring 92 off 136 balls and Kerala in reply could muster up just 243. Sanju Samson scored 35 off 46 balls with five fours and a six and unfortunately could not carry on his promising start.

However, Sanju Samson did show his class and flair as he smashed a six off the very first ball he faced, stepping down the track to a spinner and lauching him for a huge six.

Sanju has recently scored a century in the ODI series against South Africa and is looking quite high on confidence. He would be looking to make this Ranji Season count and stake a claim for a spot as a wicketkeeper in the Test side.
