Indian captain Rohit Sharma was recently present at an event where he reflected on the top five moments of his distinguished 16-year cricketing career.

Rohit picked the top five moments of his career

Known as one of the most accomplished batters in the limited-overs format, the 36-year-old has etched his name into the history books, particularly for being the only cricketer to have scored three double centuries in One-Day Internationals (ODIs).

Making his debut for the Indian team on June 23, 2007, against Ireland in Belfast, Rohit has come a long way. Accumulating more than 10,000 ODI runs till date, he stands as the fifth-highest run-scorer for India in international cricket.

A Memorable Partnership with Sachin Tendulkar

During the event, Rohit began recounting his career highlights by citing his unforgettable partnership with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar during the first final of the Commonwealth Bank Tri-series (CB series) in 2008 against Australia.

In that match, Tendulkar showcased his brilliance with an unbeaten 117, while Rohit contributed with a vital 66 runs off 87 balls. The duo's 123-run stand was instrumental in India eventually winning the series, as they defeated Australia in consecutive finals.

Rohit also spoke warmly about the experience of sharing the dressing room with his idol, Tendulkar, stating that he used to be awe-struck looking at the Master Blaster.

T20 World Cup 2007 Win

Next on his list was India's spectacular win in the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup in 2007. The triumph not only marked a new era for T20 cricket in India but also set the stage for Rohit's future successes in the format.

The Record-Breaking Knock of 264

The Indian captain then recalled one of his finest moments — a stupendous innings of 264 runs off 173 balls against Sri Lanka in 2014 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. This still stands as the highest individual score in the history of ODIs.

Test Century on Debut

Another cherished moment that made it to his top five was his Test debut against the West Indies in Kolkata, where he scored a magnificent 177 runs. This match not only announced Rohit as a Test cricketer but also proved his versatility across all formats of the game.

Historic Win at The Gabba

Rohit then picked India's stunning win over Australia at the Gabba in January 2021. This was a test of character for a young Indian team, and their win was one for the ages, ending Australia's unbeaten streak at the Gabba that had lasted for 32 years.
