Riyan Parag listed a whirlwind 119 against Jharkhand Cricket Club in the final of the Odisha T20 2023 season at Cuttack’s Barabati Stadium. The Assam captain arrived to the crease inside the fourth over of the innings, and ended up top-scoring for his side in their colossal 219-6 upfront.
Parag blasted 11 boundaries and nine huge sixes in his 56-ball stay at the crease, and the innings itself was acknowledged by his IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals on social media.
Riyan Parag flicks a six to notch up T20 final ton
Leading Assam from the front in the Odisha T20 2023 final in Cuttack, Riyan Parag arrived to the middle at 20-2 in just 3.1 overs into the innings. Thereafter, the star all-rounder scorched Jharkhand bowlers with a thunderous 50-ball 119-run stand with Pallav Das.
The 21-year-old himself faced just 56 deliveries to unfurl 119 runs from his bat, in an innings glittered with 11 fours and nine maximums. During the death overs of the innings, Parag notched up his century by flicking one of those sixes onto his leg side.
His IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals acknowledged the cricketer’s momentous occasion, and shared his century celebration on X (formerly Twitter).
Parag, with his cunning leg-breaks, also snared two Jharkhand wickets in the run-chase. He dismissed Jharkhand opener Vivek Kumar for just 18 and trapped Robin Minz a while latter with his right-arm spin.
Riyan Parag had joined the Rajasthan Royals camp as an 18-year-old back during the 2019 edition of the IPL. The cricketer was roped into their line-up off the back of his List A and T20 success with Indian domestic team Assam.
