Pakistan is set to play the T20 series against New Zealand from March 16 and has ramped up its preparation with intensive net sessions in New Zealand two days earlier. After the five-match T20 series, Pakistan will be engaging in a three-match ODI series from March 29.
The first match is scheduled for March 16 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch with captain Agha Salman leading a blend of experienced campaigners and emerging talent.
Pakistan Grind Hard In The Nets
The practice videos reveal Shaheen Shah Afridi doing some catching drills. Alongside him, speedster Haris Rauf was also seen throwing down some deliveries. Mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed, whose inclusion signals Pakistan's tactical approach to the series, was observed bowling extended spells to batters in nets.
Notably, Abrar's unique finger-spin variations could prove decisive on New Zealand's drop-in pitches that traditionally offer grip as matches progress.
Meanwhile, captain Agha Salman led from the front during batting drills, demonstrating solid technique against the pacers. The all-rounder's leadership will be under scrutiny as he takes over captaincy responsibilities in this transitional phase for Pakistan cricket.
Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris, known for his aggressive intent, practised innovative shots too.
Pakistan's T20 Future On The Line
Players like Hasan Nawaz and Omair Yousuf will be eager to translate their domestic form to the international stage, while Jahandad Khan's raw pace adds another dimension to Pakistan's bowling arsenal.
With many experienced names absent from the squad, this series offers a glimpse into Pakistan's T20 future.
The bowling attack, spearheaded by Shaheen Afridi and supported by Haris Rauf, remains Pakistan's strength, while the batting lineup's adaptability to New Zealand conditions will likely determine the series outcome.
