On March 18, Rohit was spotted at the Wankhede Stadium wearing the Mumbai Indians practice kit as he resumed training. MI will play their first match of the season against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on March 23.
Rohit was on vacation in the Maldives with his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, and their children, Samaira and Ahaan, before returning to join the team.
Mumbai Indians Finishes Last On IPL 2024 Points Table
Mumbai Indians had a tough IPL season last year, finishing at the bottom of the points table with only four wins in 14 matches. This season, Hardik Pandya remains the team’s captain, while Mahela Jayawardene has taken over as the head coach, replacing Mark Boucher.
Rohit was retained by MI for ₹16.30 crore, making him one of the franchise's key players alongside Jasprit Bumrah (₹18 crore), Hardik Pandya, and Suryakumar Yadav (₹16.35 crore each). Tilak Varma is also part of this strong Indian core. In IPL 2024, Rohit had a decent performance, scoring 417 runs, and he will be eager to improve his record this season.
For the match against CSK, MI will be without Hardik Pandya due to a ban, and Suryakumar Yadav will take over as captain for the game.
