In a turn of events that left the cricketing community in sheer amazement, Afghanistan proved its mettle by pulling off one of the biggest upsets in World Cup history.

Mujeeb gently embraced weeping young fan post Afghan win

The Afghans emerged victorious by 69 runs against defending champions England at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday. But amidst the jubilant celebrations, it was a heart-warming moment between star spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman and a young Afghan fan that truly tugged at heartstrings.

The stadium, already electrified with the unexpected victory, witnessed another emotional moment that quickly became the talk of the town. As the ground resonated with cheers, a touching video began circulating - that of a young fan, tears streaming down his face, not in sorrow, but overwhelming joy at Afghanistan's victory.

This image alone would have been heartening enough, but the incident took an even more touching turn when Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who played a vital role in the match, approached the child. With a gesture showcasing the genuine warmth, Mujeeb consoled and enveloped the young fan in a heartfelt hug.

It was indeed a day to remember for Mujeeb, both on and off the pitch. His performance proved integral to Afghanistan's win. Displaying impeccable skill with the bat, Mujeeb delivered a crucial cameo, scoring 28 runs off just 16 balls, thereby providing the much-needed boost to the Afghan innings. His brilliance wasn't limited to batting alone.

The spinner further showcased his talent with the ball, securing the wickets of England's seasoned players like Joe Root and the top-scorer for the day, Harry Brook, as well as Chris Woakes.

The 22-year-old's all-round efforts along with commendable performances from fellow spinners Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi, paved the way for Afghanistan's second-ever World Cup win.
