While cricket is a fiercely competitive sport, respect, and the spirit of the game stand above all. Indian stalwart, Virat Kohli, through his actions, continues to be an ambassador for these values. Time and again, Kohli has showcased incredible sportsmanship with his actions.

ICC celebrated Kohli's sportsmanship in a heartwarming video

In a powerful display of the spirit of cricket, the International Cricket Council (ICC) recently uploaded a video that has since taken the internet by storm. The video spotlights Kohli’s brilliant gestures of goodwill on two distinct occasions.

The video posted by ICC captioned "Huge respect from Virat Kohli", has already amassed over a million likes, with fans globally praising Kohli's magnanimity.

The first part of the video showcases the recent World Cup 2023 match at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium between India and Afghanistan. Instead of revisiting an earlier spat from an IPL 2023 match, Kohli and Afghanistan's Naveen-ul-Haq chose to put their differences behind them.

In a heartwarming moment that left fans in awe, Naveen approached Kohli for a handshake during India's successful chase, which then turned into a warm embrace, much to the delight of spectators. This camaraderie came after Kohli publicly urged fans to refrain from targeting Naveen with pro-Kohli chants, a sentiment Naveen acknowledged gratefully.

The video also shows an instance from the World Cup 2019 in England. Here, Kohli once again displayed remarkable character by standing up for Australian cricketer, Steve Smith.

Following a year-long ban due to a ball-tampering scandal, Smith was making his return to international cricket. As he faced jeers and boos from sections of the crowd, Kohli, in a memorable gesture, gestured to the audience to support, rather than mock, the Australian player.
