'Next Time Dedicate Your Victory to...': Former PAK Star 'Blasts' Rizwan's Support For Gaza

Amidst the electrifying atmosphere of international cricket, personal beliefs and political sentiments occasionally grab the limelight, generating debate and discussion that go beyond the boundaries of the field.

Kaneria's sharply responds to Rizwan's Gaza dedication

Such was the case when Mohammad Rizwan, after a stunning century against Sri Lanka, decided to dedicate his knock to Gaza. This gesture quickly became a focal point, with former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria weighing in critically on social media.

Kaneria's critique became especially sharp after Pakistan’s thumping seven-wicket loss to India. Despite Rizwan's commendable 49-run knock during the match, Kaneria advised him to place humanity above regional concerns.

“Next time dedicate your victory to humanity. The almighty never supports cruelty,” wrote Kaneria.

The match, played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, saw Pakistan wrapping up for just 191. India, however, managed to comfortably chase this target, thanks to brilliant half-centuries by captain Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer.

Rizwan's decision to link his on-field success to the people of Gaza had received a mixed reception

“This was for our brothers and sisters in Gaza. Happy to contribute in the win. Credits to the whole team and especially Abdullah Shafique and Hassan Ali for making it easier. Extremely grateful to the people of Hyderabad for the amazing hospitality and support throughout,” tweeted Rizwan.

Kaneria, never one to shy away from expressing his views, also posted an ambiguous tweet earlier in the day, believed by many to be an indirect remark about Rizwan.

"Moral of the story is — 'Talk less, and focus more on the game,” he mentioned.

The highlight of Pakistan's game against Sri Lanka was their successful record chase of a 345-run target led by Rizwan’s hundred.
