[Watch] Krunal Pandya Takes A Blinder In SMAT 2023 Semi-Final For Baroda

Baroda captain Krunal Pandya claimed a sensational running catch during his side’s semi-final showdown against Assam in the ongoing 2023 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT). Having stationed himself around the cover region, the cricketer ran backwards to complete the grab, thus sending back Assam’s well-set opener Rishav Das packing back to the pavilion.

Krunal Pandya took field for Baroda in their high-profile semi-final clash against Assam at Mohali’s IS Bindra Stadium on November 4. After winning the toss and opting to field first, Assam opener Rishav Das took his side near the 100-run mark with a calculated 48-run knock at the top.

However, against the run-of-play, the cricketer was dismissed by Baroda pacer Abhimanyusingh Rajput, owing to some excellent fielding awareness from captain Krunal Pandya inside the ring.

Running backwards, Pandya completed the grab as Assam slumped further at 99-4 in the knockout game.

Assam eventually posted 143 from their 20 overs, a total which was easily overhauled by Baroda batters later in the run-chase.

While Pandya himself failed to make any impact with the bat, his troops chased down Baroda’s 143-run total with six wickets and nearly four overs to spare.

Krunal Pandya and co. will now go up against hosts Punjab at the same Mohali venue in the final of the SMAT 2023 season.
