Delhi Capitals (DC) extended their winning streak to two matches in IPL 2025, defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by seven wickets in a one-sided clash at Vizag. After SRH’s bowlers were dismantled for 163, DC’s openers Faf du Plessis (52 off 33) and Jake Fraser-McGurk (44 off 24) raced to an 81-run stand, sealing the chase with four overs to spare.
Post-match, a viral video released by DC captured KL Rahul, DC’s mentor, offering tactical advice to SRH’s Abhinav Manohar and another teammate, sparking Rahul's nurturing and mentoring side.
KL Rahul’s Post-Match Mentorship Moment
The DC franchise’s social media team shared a heartwarming clip of KL Rahul, engaging with SRH players after the game. Rahul, known for his calm demeanour and technical acumen, appeared to dissect batting strategies, possibly addressing the players' struggles that night.
While the specifics of their conversation remain private, the video highlights Rahul’s growing influence as a mentor. His gesture drew praise from fans too. For SRH, the kavya Maran co-owned team is languishing with two straight losses after their opening win and they are eager to bounce back now.
DC Bowlers & Openers Demolish SRH In Vizag Clash
SRH captain Pat Cummins’ decision to bat first backfired spectacularly as Mitchell Starc (5/33) ripped through the top order, claiming his maiden T20 five-wicket haul.
The left-arm quick struck thrice in the powerplay, dismissing Travis Head (9), Mayank Agarwal (4), and Rahul Tripathi (15), before returning to clean up the tail. SRH’s lone resistance came from Aniket Verma (57 off 38), who notched his first IPL fifty with a flurry of boundaries.
DC’s chase began explosively, with 40-year-old Faf du Plessis becoming the third overseas player after Chris Gayle and Adam Gilchrist to score a half-century post-40.
Fraser-McGurk’s fearless strokeplay complemented Faf’s elegance until debutant leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari (2/28) removed both in the 10th over. However, Abishek Porel (29* off 16) and Tristan Stubbs (22* off 12) extinguished SRH’s hopes with a clinical 48-run partnership.
