In an unexpected move, England omitted ace pacer Jofra Archer from their recently declared provisional squad for the 2023 World Cup. With serious questions looming over Archer's fitness, the selectors decided against picking the speedster for the marquee event, naming emerging pacer Gus Atkinson as his like-for-like replacement.

Meanwhile, in an interesting incident, Archer was spotted bowling left-handed in an indoor net session following a World Cup snub. In a video doing rounds on social media, the experienced speedster is seen running with the ball in his left hand before bowling a perfect length delivery to the batter on strike.

Despite being incredibly talented, Archer has missed out on plenty of action of late due to a recurring elbow injury. Archer, who played a pivotal role in England's triumphant World Cup campaign in 2019, finally made his comeback to competitive cricket in the inaugural SA20 before playing an ODI series against South Africa in their backyard.

Although he recorded his career-best figures in that series, the right-arm pacer's IPL 2023 journey with Mumbai Indians was cut short due to fitness issues. Considering how things have panned out for him recently, it will be interesting to see when he makes his international comeback.
