MS Dhoni has kicked off his training and preparations for the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The legendary Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper was seen training in Ranchi as the caravan for the T20 league's 16th edition picked up steam recently with the conduct of the mini-auction in Dubai. 

With their squad finalised, CSK are eyeing their sixth IPL title after emerging as champions upon winning the riveting finale against Gujarat Titans (GT) last year. 

The great victory in the thrilling final over tussle in Ahmedabad added another trophy to Super Kings' rich cabinet, having previously donned the coveted crown in 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021 editions of the league. 


Dhoni Starts Training Ahead Of IPL 2024 

As reported earlier, it was understood that Thala - as the CSK fans call him - would begin his training from the first week of January. 

For Dhoni, it would've been a proud moment and a source of further motivation to continue captaining and playing for the Super Kings at the twilight of his illustrious career. 

The great wicketkeeper-batter has had speculations rife about his future and potential retirement but has as always maintained his cards close to the chest. 

Dhoni has been facing the retirement question since IPL 2020, which was his first for Super Kings after calling it quits at the international stage. The 42-year-old had expressed his wish to bid farewell to the game in front of CSK's passionate fans at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk. 

Despite Covid-19 pandemic posing a hurdle, Dhoni did realise his wish to play in front of a packed Chennai crowd once again. However, the veteran didn't part ways with the competitive game and also said any decision on his future would be taken only after he undergoes recovery from his knee surgery. 

The surgery was successful and Dhoni now gears up for another campaign with his team as he was seen taking throwdowns and training indoors ahead of the IPL 2024, which is reportedly due to start on March 22.
