India's historic victory in the second and final Test of the series against South Africa in Cape Town was a cause of major celebrations for the Rohit Sharma-led side as they breached the Newlands fortress for the first time in their cricket history.

India won for the first time in seven attempts in Cape Town with the New Year's Test versus Proteas after going down heavily on four previous occasions in the historically unconquered territory.

The victory in the two-day Test played on a bizarre surface where 33 wickets fell inside 103 overs and four sessions also helped Rohit & Co. finish on a level footing for the tour.

The celebrations were rife inside the dressing room where be it the youngsters Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal or the senior pros Rohit and Virat Kohli along with legend and coach Rahul Dravid, they were all excited and jubilant to have come out triumphant.

Even Dravid and Kohli couldn't hold back their emotions and were seen hugging each other after fulfilling the nation's desire to secure a comeback Test match win in Cape Town.

The Indian team had faced extensive flak for an embarrassing three-day loss in the first Test in Centurion and a victory was thus not just about levelling the series but restoring pride for a Test team that has competed hard all over the globe in the last five years.

There were wry smiles on all faces the moment middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer hit the winning runs on Thursday (January 4) with Rohit present there in the middle with him. The two entered a loud roar in celebration before the same echoed inside the Indian dressing room.

With their maiden win in Cape Town, India broke a disappointing four-match losing streak in SENA Tests since winning in Centurion on their last South African trip and brought themselves back to the top of the World Test Championship ladder.
