Brisbane Heat all-rounder Charli Knott perhaps unfolded the ball of the year when her sharp turn outfoxed Melbourne Stars veteran Sophia Dunkley in Brisbane. Turning up for her side in match number 13 of the ongoing Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) 2023 season, Knott also produced handy runs with the bat upfront before clinching two crucial Stars wickets to bag the ‘Player of the Match’ award.

The 20-year-old Queenslander, opening the bowling for Brisbane Heat, struck in just the fourth ball of the Melbourne Stars’ run-chase to remove their England-based opener Sophia Dunkley after a solitary run to her name.

Young Brisbane Heat all-rounder Charli Knott struck within the opening over of her spell against Melbourne Stars upon being asked to open the bowling. The cricketer got rid of Sophia Dunkley by generating a sharp turn from way outside off, leaving the opener in two minds before crashing her stumps.

Charli Knott also dismissed Melbourne Stars wicketkeeper Nicole Faltum later in the innings to finish with figures of 2-13 from her three overs. Assisted with timely wickets from Jess Jonassen and Sarah Glenn at the other end, the Brisbane Heat ended up overcoming the Stars by 13 runs to sustain their WBBL 2023 unbeaten run with four wins from four matches.

Aside from her wizardly spin bowling, Knott also clubbed a 14-ball 31 to take Heat to a competitive 150-6 upfront in their innings. The youngster bludgeoned four boundaries and two sixes in her thunderous match-winning cameo.
