In match 28 of the ongoing 2023 World Cup, Netherlands will square off against Bangladesh at the iconic Eden Gardens, Kolkata. This will be the first match of the World Cup at the city of joy.

Bangladesh have struggled to find their momentum back after their win against Afghanistan in their own curtain raiser. They have lost four matches consecutively and find themselves languishing at the bottom of the table. The Tigers have been the prey to England, India, New Zealand, and South Africa.

The good thing for them is that skipper, Shakib Al Hasan is set to return after a quick visit with his personal coach in Bangladesh.

On the other hand, Netherlands have played five matches and won just a solitary game. They were very close to defeat Pakistan but failed to nail the final blow. It was followed by a defeat against New Zealand. However they bounced back against South Africa and scripted history by eclipsing them twice within a space of 365 days. In their latest two games, the European nation has fallen victim to drubbings from Sri Lanka and Australia.

Having said that, let us have a quick look at Netherlands Predicted XI against Bangladesh.

Openers: Vikramjit Singh and Max O'Dowd

The Dutch openers have blown hot and cold throughout the season. Such has been the case with them throughout the tournament. However, the pair of Vikramjit Singh and Max O'Dowd is their best combination possible. The southpaw was brilliant with a fifty against Pakistan in their opening clash of the tournament. O'Dowd is a talented batter and has got an array of shots in his book.

Middle Order: Colin Ackermann, Sybrand Engelbrecht, Scott Edwards and Wesley Barresi

The Netherlands may make a little tweak in their playing XI after their humiliation against Australia. Teja Nidamanuru has not really fired in the mega-event so far. This could be a perfect time to bring in Wesley Barresi and replace the Hyderabad-bred cricketer.

In general, their middle order prowess consists of Sybrand Engelbrecht, Scott Edwards and Colin Ackermann.

Engelbrecht is a fantastic player of pace and did well in the domestic circuit in the latest edition. He also scored 70 against Sri Lanka. Ackermann is the leading run-getter for the Dutch with 137 runs from five innings. He can also be handy with some part-time spin. And skipper Edwards glued a magnificent knock of 78* runs off 69 balls against South Africa that came in a winning cause.

All-rounders: Bas de Leede and Logan van Beek

Bas de Leede and Logan van Beek are the prime all-rounders of the Netherlands. De Leede spilled 115 runs in 10 overs against Australia and would like to leave the past behind and march forward. He's a player of fine potential and that was witnessed during the 2023 World Cup Qualifiers.

Meanwhile, van Beek has been one of the best bowlers for the Dutch in the ongoing competition. He has claimed 10 wickets from five matches that includes a four-for against Australia. The all-rounder also slammed a fifty against the Lankan Lions.

Bowlers: Roelof van der Merwe, Aryan Dutt and Paul van Meekeren.

Roelof van der Merwe and Aryan Dutt are the spin duo of the Men in Oranje. The former is an experienced campaigner and has been decent with his left-arm orthodox spin. He bagged a couple of wickets against New Zealand and South Africa. The latter has snarred seven wickets from five matches.

Paul van Meekeren has been the leader in the pace batter for Netherlands. He maintains a healthy economy in bowling and has six wickets under his name from five matches.
