Babar Azam Likely To Be Removed From Captaincy After World Cup 2023

Team Pakistan had a good start in the World Cup 2023, winning the first couple of their games. But now, they have lost three games on the trot, these losses are putting a question mark on the leadership of Pakistan's ace batter, Babar Azam.

Not only the team is suffering, but Babar himself is not among the runs in this tournament so far. He scored just 157 runs in the first five games with an average of just 31 including a couple of half-centuries. Even while scoring those fifties, he hasn't looked good enough, as his scoring rate was not up to the mark.

Considering the poor run of the Pakistan team at this World Cup, a source has confirmed that PCB are looking for a new face until Babar takes this team to the semifinals of the ongoing tournament.

PCB to consider Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan and Sarfaraz Ahmed for the ultimate role

The source said that Babar was given the ultimate power and was allowed to take the team of his choice for the event in India. Despite some suggested changes from the former cricketers like Misbah-Ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez, Babar stuck to his team and ignored their suggestions.

The source further said that the knives are out for Babar and he is solely responsible for the Asia Cup and the World Cup. If Babar Azam could not get this team to qualify for the semifinals, then the PCB will be looking to go with the former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed for the longest and the 50-over format and Shaheen Shah Afridi for the shortest format of the game. While, Rizwan and Shan Masood are also a part of the race for the ultimate role.

Pakistan are facing the South African team in the ongoing 26th match of the tournament and will be facing the Bangladesh team on the 31st of October.
