Alex Hartley, the prominent England cricketer, has expressed her surprise and frustration over a controversial wide call in a recent women's league cricket match.

The incident, which has sparked considerable debate among players and fans alike, saw a delivery that appeared to be within the acceptable range called a wide by the umpire, leading to significant repercussions in the game.

In a league cricket game back in England, a bowler named George followed the batter Macleod's trail and tossed up a delivery way outside the leg stump.

The batter was making room for herself and ended up going way too wide outside the leg stump. The ball ended up hitting her front leg. Yet the umpire deemed it a wide.

The bowler was bewildered and protested the decision, citing the batter's long trail across the leg stump. However, the umpire didn't budge, leaving the bowling team in extreme frustration.

That being said, England spinner Alex Hartley shared the video of the controversial wide call on her social media and called out the umpiring standards. She said that in this day and age, players have to teach umpires the rules as the standards have plummeted to new lows.

Further replying to a fan's comment, Hartley stated that she would have thrown things out if this had happened to her. And the bowler was not at fault, as expressing dissatisfaction in an acceptable manner is totally fine on the cricket field.

That being said, the controversy has reignited discussions about the potential need for enhanced training for umpires and possibly increased use of technology to assist in making more accurate calls.
