The Bangladesh-based ‘Celebrity Cricket League’, launched on September 28 in a bid to boost the morale of the national side ahead of the 2023 World Cup in India, turned into a burly brawl shortly after a friendly group match on Friday evening.

The match was played between teams of renowned Bangladeshi filmmakers Mostafa Kamal Raz and Dipankar Dipon at the Mirpur Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium.

People injured in ‘Friendly’ Bangladesh tournament

The Celebrity Cricket League was launched with an aim to boost Bangladesh team’s morale for their World Cup 2023 trip to India.

While it was promoted as a ‘friendly tournament’, the match between the teams of filmmakers Mostafa Kamal Raz and Dipankar Dipon took an ugly turn as players from both camps were embroiled in heated altercations with each other.

As per a report from The Daily Star, actress Raj Ripa alleged that director Mostafa Kamal Raz and actor Sariful Razz had physically assaulted her after the match. However, Kamal Raz and his teammates left the venue later without issuing any reply to her accusations.

As it turned out, several players were left injured owing to their altercation and the tournament itself got cancelled prior to the semifinals.
