Ever since his controversial remarks made headlines on social media platforms and news channels, former Pakistani cricketer Abdul Razzaq has been in hot waters. The all-rounder, who once used to be an ace player for his side, recently commented on actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan during a chat show with Shahid Afridi and Umar Gul beside him.

However, he received backlash from many former teammates, including Shoaib Akhtar and Afridi, who reckoned that such a statement should not have been made and he should apologize immediately.

It didn't take Razzaq long to come online and share a video where he mentioned that it was a slip of the tongue and he wanted to take someone else's name instead.

"I am Abdul Razzaq. Yesterday, during the press conference, we were talking about cricket, coaching and intention. It was a slip of the tongue of the kind that happened while I was giving an example to explain the situation. I wanted to give some other example but accidentally Aishwarya's name came up. I really want to apologize for my mistake and I want to say sorry to Aishwarya. That was not my intention. I really apologize."

For the unversed, Razzaq made a shocking and derogatory statement about Aishwarya, uttering that her kids would not be decent and well-mannered if someone marries her.

"Younis Khan had good intentions as a captain and it gave me confidence to perform better. Everyone over here is talking about the intention and Pakistan’s team. Actually, we don’t have good intentions to develop and polish players in Pakistan. If you think that by marrying Aishwarya Rai, a good and pious kid would be born, it would never happen."

Shahid Afridi later criticized the statement and said he would ask the 43-year-old to take his words back. All this has been a point of debate in the media, and now, everyone would hope that the matter is put to rest since the culprit himself has regretted commenting about it.
