In a heartwarming video, a 77-year-old woman was captured enjoying the Mumbai Indians (MI) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) clash in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season game at Wankhede Stadium. The elderly women came with a placard in hand which read that she showed up just to support ex-captain Rohit Sharma.
Rohit Sharma is undoubtedly the face of the Mumbai Indian franchise, as he led the team to as many as five league titles in the past decade.
While Rohit may not be the captain of MI anymore, fans’ love and support for him is still the same and has in fact increased ever since the captaincy fiasco exploded within the franchise.
In a perfect testament to undisputed fandom, a 77-year-old woman turned up at Wankhede Stadium with her family for the MI vs KKR game last week. She posed with a placard that suggested that she only attended the game to support her favourite athlete, Rohit Sharma.
In the touching video, the elderly woman is seen enjoying the game thoroughly with her family as she also posed with the unique placard in the stands.
As Mumbai Indians took to the field to do battle against KKR, the 77-year-old woman cheered on Rohit Sharma and her beloved team with infectious enthusiasm.
While MI ended up on the losing cause, the elderly woman’s enthusiastic support for Rohit Sharma became the highlight, and the video of the same went viral on social media.
Meanwhile, despite unwavering support, Mumbai Indians have failed to live up to the expectations this IPL 2024 season as they sit at the bottom of the points table with just 6 points in 11 games.
While the playoff hopes are diminished, MI will play for their pride against SRH later today at Wankhede Stadium.
