The World Cup 2023 is slowly but surely catching the imagination of cricketing fans around the world and India, the hosts of the marquee event are on a dream run, living true to their pre-tournament billing. The sheer dominance shown by the Indian team under the coach-captain duo of Rahul Dravid-Rohit Sharma has raised hopes that they will end the ICC trophy drought finally after 10 long years.

Amidst this World Cup euphoria, a big news has popped up where it has been reported that VVS Laxman will don the head coach role for the five-match T20I series against Australia scheduled to be played just after the World Cup.

The five-match T20I series between the Aussies and the 'Men in Blue' will kickstart the preparation for the next T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in the Caribbean and USA in 2024. It is a five-match T20I series but will start just four days later after the World Cup final on 23rd of November, providing very little room for big players and support staff to get fresh after a tedious World Cup campaign.

Also, Rahul Dravid's contract as head coach will end after the World Cup 2023 and though it is likely that his contract will be renewed, he will surely take some rest before he moves his attention towards future assignments.

Also, it will be interesting to see the future of stalwarts like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the shortest format of the game as they have not played T20Is after India's disappointing campaign in 2022 T20 World Cup. However, at least for this series just after the World Cup, it is highly likely that India will field a young and inexperienced side against an aggressive Australian team under the leadership of Mitchell Marsh.

VVS Laxman has recently filled the role of head coach whenever Rahul Dravid has been absent due to India's packed schedule and we can expect him to use his loads of experience to guide young Indian players as they build towards a new ultra-aggressive approach in T20 cricket.
