Jos Buttler's England have been pretty below par in the World Cup 2023 and against the Lankans at Bengaluru, they have reached another low by bundling out for just 156. In reply, Sri Lanka lost Kusal Perera early and then Buttler took a brilliant backward running catch to send back his counterpart Kusal Mendis back to the hut.

Sri Lanka were reduced to 23-2 at it provided a glimmer of hope to England but with just 157 to chase, Lankans can afford to take their time on a pitch that is quite good for batting. Talking about the dismissal of Kusal Mendis, it was a fullish delivery swinging into middle and leg. Mendis tried to flick it but got a huge top edge that went high in the air and behind Jos Buttler with gloves on. Buttler ran backwards, kept his eyes on the ball and then dived to his right, completing a fantastic catch.

It was the second wicket for David Willey in the game and after his unbeaten knock of 14 off 17 balls, he is bowling well too, rising as one of the few positives for England in this big game against the Lankans.
