England, the defending champions came into World Cup 2023 as one of the favourites and were touted to set the World Cup on fire with their flurry of strokemakers. However, things have gone in completely opposite direction as England have struggled big time with the bat, crumbling under pressure in many games. Now, against Sri Lanka on a flat batting deck at Bangalore, they have shockingly crumbled again with seven wickets down for just 123.

Controversial catch by Sadeera Samarawickrama against England

The last of those wickets was of Chris Woakes in the 26th over where Kasun Rajitha got the better of Waokes courtesy of a brilliant low catch by Sadeera Samarawickrama. It was a shortish delivery, outside off and Woakes went for the cut shot. He hit it bit aerially and to the left of the point fielder where Sadeera dived to his left and claimed a low catch.

The umpires though were not sure and send it upstairs. The replays rolled in and after lot of different angles and deliberations, the umpires decided that Sadeera's fingers were under the ball and he has taken the catch.

Chris Woakes and Ben Stokes though were not happy and some of the English fans also looked quite frustrated but it seemed like a fair call and overall, England have only themselves to blame for their disastrous situation in this World Cup.
