In latest news, talismanic right-hander Virat Kohli has reportedly declined captaincy for Delhi ahead of the upcoming Delhi versus Railways Ranji Trophy match. Kohli, who will be returning to domestic cricket after 13 years, is all set to feature in the highly anticipated clash starting from 30 January at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Earlier, there were reports suggesting that Kohli will be playing in Delhi's match against Saurashtra alongside Rishabh Pant, however due to a neck sprain, he was forced to opt out.  However, the star batter, arrived in Delhi on Monday night ahead of the match and has been training and bonding with the team in recent visuals. 

Kohli Declines Delhi's Captaincy

In a surprising turn, Kohli declined the opportunity to captain the Delhi team  in the upcoming match. The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) had approached the former Indian captain to lead his home franchise, but Virat Kohli chose not to take on the role. He insisted that youngster Ayush Badoni should continue to lead the team in order to not hamper the team's functioning. Previously, Rishabh Pant had also stepped away from the same leadership position offer.
