On Wednesday, December 3, the ICC updated their weekly rankings and several Indian stars were rewarded after their heroics in the Ranchi ODI. Not just India, but global stars across formats saw major shifts in their rankings.
Virat Kohli overtakes injured Shubman Gill
The most noticeable change was Virat Kohli jumping a place to overtake Shubman Gill and rank 4th on ICC ODI rankings. Virat slammed his 52nd ODI century in the first ODI against South Africa. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill, who is recovering from a neck injury, continues to miss out and has slipped to 5th.
Virat is now the 2nd-highest-ranked Indian star as Rohit Sharma has extended his stay at the top after a fifty in Ranchi.
Saim Ayub the new No. 1 T20I all-rounder
In a significant shift in T20I rankings, the Sikandar Raza dominance at the top has ended as Pakistan opener Saim Ayub is now the new no. 1 ranked T20I all-rounder with a 295 rating just six more than Raza.
Ayub had a great tri-series recently where the southpaw amassed 118 runs in five innings, and also picked up three wickets in the tournament.
Travis Head, South Africa stars lead Test rankings
Travis Head, who took the first Ashes Test by storm and slammed a quickfire century, has been rewarded for his heroics. The southpaw has entered the top five with a rating of 792. Meanwhile, Temba Bavuma has slipped two spots to now rank 7th in ICC Test rankings.
It has also been a great week for South Africa bowlers as Marco Jansen has jumped five spots to rank 5th on the bowling list and Shimron Harmer has climbed a whopping 13 spots to rank 11th.
Talking about Marco Jansen, he is now the 2nd ranked best all-rounded in Tests, only behind Ravindra Jadeja.
