In a significant development around USA cricket, the Monank Patel-led side have sacked Stuart Law as their head coach following an embarrassing defeat against Scotland in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2, 2023-27, match played at Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Dallas on Friday (October 25).

It is not a normal sacking, as reports from Cricbuzz suggest that Law faced serious allegations of discrimination against Indian players, including skipper Monank Patel.

"USA Cricket announced the departure of Men’s National Team Head Coach Stuart Law today. Law was appointed to the position in April and led the team during USA’s historic performance at this year’s T20 World Cup, where the team advanced to the Super 8 in its inaugural World Cup appearance," read a statement from USA Cricket.

Several Indian Players Complaint Against Law Over Unfair Treatment

Law, who previously served as head coach of Bangladesh and the West Indies, joined USA in April 2024. He came to light after the USA stunned Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2024 match and also went on to qualify for the Super Eights of the prestigious T20I event.

According to a report from Cricbuzz, the reason for Law’s sacking is understood to be allegations of discrimination, mistrust, and favouritism against Indian players, including the captain, Monank Patel.

It is worth noting that the matter came to light when the players sent a letter that accused Law of attempting to turn USA cricketers against captain Patel. Apart from Patel, Indian-origin players like Harmeet Singh and Milind Kumar also faced issues with Law.

USA Take Strict Action Against Aaron Jones

Recently, USA took a harsh step and dropped Aaron Jones out of their 15-member squad for the World Cup League 2 (WCL-2) tri-series, which includes Nepal and Scotland because of prioritising club over international duties.

In September, Jones missed the previous World Cup League 2 series in Namibia to honour his contract with Saint Lucia Kings in CPL and it has not gone well with some of the selectors.
