The 2025 KSCA Maharaja T20 Auction brought a surprising headline, Samit Dravid, son of Indian cricket legend Rahul Dravid, went unsold. Dravid was part of the Mysuru Warriors in the 2024 edition of the Maharaja Trophy. Although his team went on to lift the title, Samit’s individual performance didn’t quite match expectations.

In seven matches, the 19-year-old batter scored just 82 runs at an average of 11.71, with a strike rate of 113.89. His highest score was 33 off 24 balls against Gulbarga Mystics. Unfortunately, that was also the only time he crossed 30 runs in the tournament. Moreover, he didn’t get a chance to contribute with the ball, despite being a pace-bowling all-rounder.

As a result, he was left out of the playing XI towards the end of the season, and this likely influenced his fate at the 2025 auction.

Interestingly, earlier in 2024, Samit Dravid had grabbed attention for all the right reasons. Representing Karnataka in the Cooch Behar Trophy, he played a key role in helping the team win their first-ever title in the tournament.

He scored 362 runs in eight matches, including a fluent 98 against Jammu and Kashmir, showing great technique and temperament. Not just with the bat, Samit also impressed with the ball, picking up 16 wickets, including two scalps in the final against Mumbai.

Despite his earlier form in longer-format cricket, Samit Dravid went unsold in the 2025 KSCA Maharaja Trophy auction.

The tournament is set to take place from August 11 to 27 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Defending champions Mysuru Warriors, led by Karun Nair, have retained key players like Prasidh Krishna, S.U. Karthik, and C.A. Karthik, but chose not to bring Samit back into the squad.

It seems his performance in the shorter format last year didn’t inspire enough confidence among the franchises.
