Rahul Dravid Bats With His Younger Son
To the joy of fans, former Indian batter Rahul Dravid, who was known as the "Wall" for his resolute defence, came onto the pitch one more time during the third-division club game hosted by the Karnataka State Cricket Association. The game was a part of the Sri Nassur Memorial Shield for the Group l-lll Division tournament 2024-25.
Dravid, who last featured in a professional cricket game in 2014, made his way onto the pitch while donning the Vijaya Cricket Club jersey as they were playing against Young Lions Club at the SLS Kreedangana ground, where both sides were engaged in a 50-over contest.
The right-hander started out at number six in the first innings of the game when his younger son, Anvay Dravid, was at the crease, as the father-son duo batted together in an extremely rare incidence, stitching a 17-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
Unfortunately, Rahul was dismissed for just 10 after facing eight deliveries as bowler A R Ullas sent him back to the pavilion. In eight deliveries he faced, Dravid was also able to find a boundary. The father-son duo scored 17 runs for the fifth wicket after facing 15 deliveries together.
On the other hand, Rahul's younger son, Anvay, proved to be the hero with a 58-run knock from 60 deliveries as he managed eight boundaries to his name, whereas Swapnil Yelave made a scintillating 107 from just 50 deliveries.
Ultimately, the Vijaya Cricket Club put up 345 while losing seven wickets in their respective 50 overs.
Adding to this, Dravid's elder son, Samit, who is a part of India's Under-19 squad, featured in the Maharaja T20 trophy last year, where he managed 82 runs from seven games played.
Speaking about the senior pro, Dravid has previously represented his childhood club, the Bangalore United Cricket Club, a few months after hanging up his boots from international cricket, where he smashed a hundred to help his team prevent relegation.
