After three successful seasons of the SA20, the T20 league is coming up with another thrilling season. With the players’ auction set for September 2025, the Durban's Super Giants have just made a major announcement.
As they prepare for the new SA20 season, the Durban's Super Giants have confirmed that Lance Klusener will return as head coach. After the announcement, Klusener shared his enthusiasm about continuing to build on the team’s legacy.
Klusener Continues The Legacy
With the rise of T20 franchise leagues, SA20 has become one of the prominent tournaments in world cricket. After being introduced in 2023, the tournament carved its own legacy and added a spark to the format. As the fourth season is coming up next year, the Durban's Super Giants shared a major update.
Before the 2025-26 season, they announced head coach Lance Klusener’s reappointment as the head coach. The iconic South African opener has been a key figure of the side since the inaugural edition and will now continue his journey with the side.
Under Klusener’s guidance, the Durban's Super Giants played the SA20 2024 final against the Sunrisers Eastern Cape and ended up as the runner-up. But in the last edition, they hit the rock button. With just two victories in 10 matches, they ended up being on the last position of the points table and exited the tournament from the group stage.

Klusener Eyes More Glory In The Upcoming New Season
With the arrival in the squad for another season, the South African star sets his sights on another thrilling season. As quoted by ESPN, Klusener thanked the franchise for trusting him and shared his ambition to strengthen the team’s legacy.
“It's a privilege to continue this journey with the Durban Super Giants and the RPSG Group. The support and belief shown in me is deeply appreciated. I look forward to building something even more special this season,” he said.
“We've laid the foundation over the past three years. Now, it's time to build a team that can consistently challenge for the title and make Durban proud. Durban is my home. Coaching this franchise is more than a job--it's a mission to build something enduring with our fans and players,” he added.
As the new season is coming up later this year, the Durban's Super Giants are aiming for a stronger bounce-back from their previous slump. On December 26, they are all set to face the MI Cape Town in their inaugural clash of the season.
