Consequences if RCB, PBKS lose IPL final [Source: @iplt20.com]
The wait is over as the grand finale of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will take place on Tuesday between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Both the teams have never touched the IPL trophy and will be gunning for their maiden trophy.
The task won't be easy as both the teams will be under tremendous pressure, however, RCB will have the psychological edge since they defeated the Shreyas Iyer led side twice in their last two meetings. But as they say, only one team can win the IPL trophy and the team which loses, will face severe consequences.
1) Unnecessary trolls, abuse
RCB fans and their players have always been a subject of trolls and abuse, considering the fact that the franchise has an immense fan base and despite boasting world-class players they are yet to win the IPL trophy. Social media is not a kind place for players and whosoever loses, PBKS or RCB, the players and almost everyone will be targeted online, something which shouldn't happen.
RCB great and IPL legend, Virat Kohli has played for the franchise since the inception of the league, and throughout the last 18 years, he has become trolls' favourite player and if he loses his 4th IPL final, things could go downhill.
2) Going back to the 'Holy Trinity'
So far, there have been 4 franchises who have never won an IPL trophy - RCB, PBKS, DC and LSG. While LSG has just joined the league, 4 years ago, the other three have been around since the last 18 years and have become the teams with the longest IPL droughts.
However, tonight, one team will end that drought and the losing team will join DC and LSG to form a new holy trinity of the teams to have never won the league yet.
