The stage is set, the players are ready as the most anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 finale will take place between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Punjab Kings from the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on June 3. Both the sides will be riding high on confidence as fans expect a riveting battle.

Riveting battle on the cards

This will be RCB's fourth IPL final in their history, with the team still chasing their maiden IPL title. The side has tasted no success in the previous three attempts and will aim to break the jinx. On the other hand, PBKS have had the same fortune as they have reached the finals only once (2014) but lost against Kolkata Knight Riders.

For RCB, Virat Kohli will once again hold the key as he and the franchise aim to get their hands on the title. In this piece, we will breakdown how Kohli has performed in the previous three finals for RCB.

How has Kohli performed in previous three IPL finals

The heartbreak in 2009

In the second season of the IPL, Kohli was a young boy as RCB reached their maiden IPL final which was against the Deccan Chargers. Bowling first, the RCB side put up a brave fight as they restricted the Adam Gilchrist led DC to a mere 143/6.

The target looked well within reach, but RCB batting crumbled and Kohli also failed to deliver the goods. The youngster then came into bat at 4 down and scored just 7 off 8 as Andrew Symonds took his wicket and the team lost the match by 6 runs.

The one-sided battle in 2011

Two years later, this time under the leadership of Daniel Vettori, RCB reached the finale and they had a date with the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings. However, it was a one-sided affair as CSK posted a huge 205/5 in their first innings and RCB were never really in the race.

Kohli did put up a fight as he scored a brisk 35 off 32, but it was never enough as the team lost the finale, yet again.

So near, yet so far in 2016

Fast forward to 2016 and under the leadership of Kohli, RCB defied all the odds and entered the finale on the back of a winning streak and all the players in form. Kohli, himself had entered the 900-run club and was destined to win the title.

Once again RCB bowled first and SRH posted 208/7. However, RCB had a superstar batting lineup and Kohli, himself looked in dream touch as the opener blasted a quick-fire 54 off 35. But once he was dismissed, the team crumbled like a pack of cards and the franchise lost the final for the third time.
