Travis Head pipped Indian speed demon Mohammed Shami and Australian teammate Glenn Maxwell to bag the ICC’s Player of the Month award for November 2023. Travis Head wins big for World Cup 2023 performance

Travis Head scored 220 runs for Australia at the 2023 World Cup in the month of November, all in the winning cause, including an alluring 137 against India in the final. The cricketer also bludgeoned a tense 62 against South Africa in the semifinals at the Eden Gardens just three days prior to his title clash special.

For punching out tournament-winning knocks in the semi-final and the final of the 2023 World Cup, 30-year-old Head was adjudged as ICC’s Player of the Month for November.

He overcame tough competition from World Cup-winning teammate Glenn Maxwell, who thwarted the Afghanistan attack with a match-defining double ton in Mumbai. Head also overcame Indian pace legend Mohammed Shami, who claimed 15 wickets in five World Cup 2023 games in November, which featured match-winning spells against Sri Lanka and South Africa and a sizzling seven-fer against New Zealand in the semis.

Acknowledging his remarkable feat, Travis Head said:

“It’s a great honour to be recognized with this award, but it is a team effort. Without my team-mates across all formats this wouldn’t have happened; so these types of awards are as much for them as they are for me.”

Following the conclusion of the 2023 World Cup, Travis Head took part in Australia’s T20I assignment in India, where he scored handy runs in each of his three appearances at the top of the order. The South Australian star will now be seen reprising his role for his country in their upcoming three-match home Test series against Pakistan.

The first of the three Test matches is slated to commence from December 14 onwards at the Perth Stadium.
